job update

Hey my little brussel spouts just thought I'd give you an update on what is going on. Well I have been mulling over it what I should do...I think that I will be looking for a job in the insurance field. My wife works for State Farm and I think we are going to try to get a job for me with a State Farm agent. Most agents, if they find the right person, will not only pay them well, but also pay for their training and licenses. That looks like the ticket for me right now. Thankfully my wifes boss knows a bunch of other agents...and she is going to start calling her friends to see if they are interested. Funny thing is I have never met this lady...but she likes my wife...so she likes me. Please be praying for me...this is not just a matter of money, but rather quality of life. This job pays well, but the stress and crap just isn't worth it to me.

interesting movie to say the least. When I watch a movie like this I am in awe of God's creativity displayed in fallen mankind. This movie is about a man who is trying to adapt a book for a screen play. Unfortunately the man has no backbone, although in his writing career he is a know it all. This "adaptation" is more of a look of the human condition in a comical but real format that creates a beautiful symphony of humanity with it's flaws. Other words...I liked it.

john 6:25-71

The past week or so I having been meditating on this chapter of the story of God. So many things can be said about this section of the story, in fact for the past few years it has been a constant source of encouragement/refocus/inquiry. The gist of the Story is that there is a crowd of so-called "disciples" after Jesus feeds a few thousand of them. They want "another" sign to believe in who he is. Instead of a sign He says..."If you want to live forever you will have to eat my flesh and drink my blood." Well this was just too much for some "disciple" to swallow. So they leave...alot of them leave it says. He turns to the 12 and says, "Are you guys gunna leave too ?" Peter quickly says..."Where would we go ? For you alone have the words to bring life." Wow so many things are runnging through my head about this.    For starters can someone really be a "student of Christ" if they aren't willing to pay the cost of admission ? No there is just no way. Like my Pastor said last night, "community is not proximity, it's participation"...I love what Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, "when Christ calls a man, He bids him to come and die." I struggle with this everyday of my life. Do I really want to follow Christ today ? Is it really worth what it will cost me. And while these question are never voiced verbally, they can be seen in our actions and thoughts. During this interaction the "disciples" question Jesus saying, "Well, what do we do then to get in on God's works ?" Jesus replied, "Throw your lot in with the One that God has sent. That kind of a commitment gets you in on God's works." They wouldn't have it...they weren't willing to pay the cost. Am I ? Not in the "easy" stuff ie. prayer, worship, fellowship...but rather when God tells me todo something that I don't understand. "EAT MY FLESH..." No way I don't understand it doesn't make sense to me. Isn't God a God of order ? Doesn't everything He says "line up" with His word ? It's fine if you don't understand....but will you still follow ?    Secondly when Jesus talked about "eating my flesh" what was He saying ? Well later in the story He tells us to do just this "in rememberance" of Him. We call it communion, the eucharist, the Lords supper, the Divine Liturgy. But what is it really ? The cup, the bread....the His body, his blood. What does it all mean ? Well to break it all down...it is the ability for man to touch God. All through the Old Testament only certain people could talk to God. In fact only the Highest of Highest priest could go into the Holy of Holies and that only once a year....with alot of smoke(incense) and alot of blood. Now Christ is saying through my broken body and spilt blood you have axcess to the Father anytime, and all the time. It means intimacy of relationship avaliable to all that desire. And that depth on that intimacy only depends on one thing...how far are you willing to go ? Amazing a God that allows rotten man to touch Him. A God that murdered His son to make that possible....amazing.

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.
What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?
